Rosie’s, the launch party.

Brand new superclub  Rosie’s  opens on Birminghams famous Broad street  this weekend and I was invited along for a sneak peek last night.

Located at 259- 262 Broad street Rosie’s has five rooms spread over two floors. Outside the front is a fenced off area for enjoying cocktails alfresco or for the smokers. We  arrived to a red carpet reception as this weekend is the VIP launch weekend starting tonight (Friday 18th)  DJs Scott Mills and  Chris Stark will be entertaining the crowds in the Dao room. Whilst DJ Ace will be in  the Vault.  With a special appearance of Sam Gotland and Simon Searles of Love Island.

On Saturday there will be Ciroc  cocktails on arrival and performances from  Nathan Dawes and the Stickmen Duo as well as fire breathers, stilt walkers, magicians and surprises around every corner!

Inside the Montana bar.

We started our Rosie’s experience by being asked to select a card which revealed our first surprise cocktail. I chose my card and it told me I had a pornstar Martini.  Mr. Red made his choice and got a Strawberry mojito.  We was told we could swap our cocktails, but I don’t think that would be in keeping with a lucky dip, so I went with my initial selection and was more than happy with my lovely summery concoction.  Mr. Reds mojito was a tall glass of strawberry and rum, again another excellent cocktail.  We enjoyed our first drinks in the Montana bar  which is on the ground floor.
A Ting Wray and a G is for Gin.

For our second drink Mr. Red had a Ting Wray  which was a grapefruit and raspberry cocktail and I had a G Is For Gin which was  Gin based, flavoured with elderflower and topped up with prosecco, I had found my drink. Much drier than the fruity cocktails, everyone tried a sip of mine and it was most definitely a love it or hate it  kind of drink, I loved it. With the DJ booth in the middle of the floor playing some great music, Montana is a vibrant, feel good, cocktail bar with great atmosphere.

The Montana bar  lays claim to the Martinis and Mojitos and offers 50% off of drinks from 5pm until 10pm.

We then had the grand tour of the upstairs.

Starting with the Dao room.  The Dao room takes its inspiration from the bright lights of Las Vegas, decorated in red and gold, with VIP booths,  Asian inspired cocktails and some amazing lighting. It was very reminiscent of a real  old school  disco and had a good length bar to serve the thirsty revellers.

We then moved over to the Retro bar which plays noughties classics and singalong party tunes.  The decor here is completely different, with a definite retro feel. The light up dance floor and uv paint on the walls is very much a mix of the best of the 70s and 90s in my opinion.

Moving on to the Vault,  which plays R&B and has hidden booths overlooking the dance floor. The Vault has a much more commercial warehouse kind of vibe and specialises in bourbon drinks. We couldn’t stay here for long as the workmen were still busy trying to get the Vault ready for opening.

The last room really is something special. Based on a speakeasy, the laundry.  In true speakeasy style, this bar is trying to pass itself off as a humble laundry but for those in the know, drinks are once again 50% off from 5pm through till 10pm. The laundry has  a couple of booths, one of which is disguised  as a bathroom, complete with bath tub table and lavatory seat!

I really appreciated the space in this room. It’s soundproofed in here so it’s a much more restful bar and has a decidedly more relaxed feel whilst still having a sense of fun.  Again another good sized bar area, but still very much in keeping with its laundry disguise. The laundry has an additional entrance so it can  be accessed without having to go through the club. Laundry and adverts for detergent greets visitors coming in via this entrance, it’s all very quirky and dare I say it, very Brum. (I’m not one to boast but Birmingham does have some amazing cocktail venues)

It’s rare that I go down Broad street. The last time I went was about 6 years ago. In my mind Broad street appealed to the younger generations. Had I not been invited to attend the grand unveiling of Rosie’s I may have dismissed it as yet another nightclub for the under 30s, but having visited I can say this place really does have a wide appeal. I certainly want to return to the laundry sometime soon, it’s a great place and I’d love to take friends or visitors to my beautiful city here.  I had a wonderful experience. Maybe next time I go I will try my luck at Blingo bingo.  I have no idea what Blingo bingo is, but it is hosted by hip hop grannies straight out of Camden and I’m intrigued. Blingo bingo is a monthly event and starts tonight (Friday 18th) and Dao bar is giving away tickets for tonight event, first come first served.

When the time came for us to leave we were handed wonderful goodie bags and I love my disco glitter ball key fob. I shall think of Rosie’s every time I look at it.
